The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Department of Social Work, Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, successfully organised a two-day national workshop titled “From Margins to Mainstream: Tribal Perspectives in Media” on 14th& 15thFebruary 2025.
The workshop aimed to explore the role of media in representing tribal communities and addressing their concerns while fostering discussions on inclusive journalism and tribal narratives in mainstream media.
Distinguished Guests & Speakers:
Prof. K G Suresh, former Vice-Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication and former Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the inaugural address.
ShriShubhranshu Choudhary, renowned journalist (BBC) and co-founder of CGNetSwara, engaged in an insightful interactive session with students, sharing his experiences on community journalism and digital storytelling for marginalized voices.
ShriAppala Naidu Tippana, Special Correspondent at The Hindu, also interacted with students, shedding light on ground reporting and the role of mainstream media in covering tribal issues.
Prof.Saratchandra Babu M., Dean, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered a thought-provoking address, emphasizing the importance of academia-media collaborations in highlighting tribal perspectives.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, researchers, and faculty members, creating a platform for meaningful discussions, exchange of ideas, and skill-building in tribal media representation.
