Department of Sociology

Sociology is the science that deals with society, It studies social systems, social order, and social relations through analytical and descriptive studies by applying different research methods. it helps students to understand society from a sociological perspective. it helps them to develop a sociological way of thinking. the department introduces the students to sociological fieldwork. the faculty members of the department always motivate students for various competitive examinations, like civil service examinations, NET-JRF, skill development courses and active participation in various programs.The department organizes academic activities such as fieldwork, class presentations, workshops, lectures, group discussion etc. The Department of Sociology serves as a hub for education, research, and societal engagement, promoting a deeper understanding of human societies and their complexities.

  • MA Sociology

A Master of Arts (M.A.) in Sociology is a postgraduate academic degree that delves deeper into the study of society, human behavior, social structures, and social phenomena. It is typically pursued after completing a Bachelor’s degree. Students may have the opportunity to specialize in various subfields of sociology such as social inequality, gender studies, urban sociology, criminology, sociology of culture, globalization, or others based on the offerings of the program.

An M.A. in Sociology can lead to various career paths in academia, research institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations, social services, policy analysis, market research, human resources, and more. Some students also choose to pursue further studies at the doctoral level (Ph.D.) for advanced research or academic positions.
