National Librarians’ Day

On August 12, 2026, The Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh (CTUAP) celebrated National Librarians’ Day with academic fervor on Wednesday, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The program commenced with a floral tribute to the portrait of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, honoring his pioneering contributions to the development of library science and the library movement in India.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Patron, Prof. T. Srinivasan, In-charge Vice-Chancellor, said that libraries are vital centres for knowledge advancement, intellectual growth and research in educational institutions. He encouraged students and faculty members to make effective use of books as well as modern digital resources and cultivate a culture of continuous learning. He emphasized that libraries play a crucial role in enhancing the academic standards of a university.
Prof. Jitendra Mohan Mishra, Registrar, in his message, highlighted the significant role of libraries in shaping the academic and professional careers of students. He observed that regular access to books, research publications, academic databases and digital resources broadens knowledge and develops analytical thinking. He encouraged students to make the library an integral part of their academic journey.
Dr. Kolle Shankar Reddy, Librarian, CTUAP, explained the significance of National Librarians’ Day and highlighted the outstanding contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the development of library science and the library movement in India. He also spoke about Ranganathan’s vision of making knowledge accessible to all.
Prof. Mukkamala Saratchandra Babu, Keynote Speaker, delivered an insightful address on “Scientific Research and its Significance in the Life and Career of Teachers.” He emphasized the importance of quality research, continuous academic updating and effective utilization of library resources for strengthening research and teaching. He called upon faculty members to promote research-oriented teaching and contribute to knowledge creation.
On this occasion, the University Research Dashboard was formally unveiled by the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer and Librarian, marking an important step towards strengthening research monitoring, visibility and academic information management at the University. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Dasari Narayana. Dr. Parikipandla Sridevi, Dr. Anirudh Kumar, Dr. Suresh Babu, Dr. Bonthu Kotaiah, Dr. N. V. S. Suryanarayana, Dr. Divya, Dr. Tarakeswara Rao, Dr. Pramachatterjee, Dr. Gangunaidu, Dr. Nagesh, Dr. Kusum, Dr. Venkateswarlu, Dr. Prasad, Dr. Kishore and Dr.P.S.Latha K along with guest faculty members,research scholars and students of the University, participated in the programme. The celebration reaffirmed the University’s commitment to promoting reading habits, research culture, continuous learning and effective utilization of library resources among students, faculty and researchers.
