The Department of Computer Science and the Department of Sociology at Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh (CTUAP) organized a two-day workshop titled “Wings of Innovation: Empowering Skills through Drone Technology” on March 12-13, 2025. The event aimed to provide theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in drone technology, focusing on its applications in agriculture, forestry, surveillance, and career opportunities in the field.
Day 1 (March 12, 2025)
The inaugural session was attended by dignitaries from CTUAP and Centurion University, highlighting the role of drone technology in research and industry. Technical sessions covered:
- Drone imaging in agriculture (Dr. Korla Harshavardhan) – Discussed multispectral imaging, crop monitoring, and soil health analysis.
- Drone applications in agroforestry (Dr. Sonia Panigrahi) – Explained forest mapping, wildlife conservation, and disaster response using drones.
- Surveillance drones & career opportunities (Mr. Mithun Chakravarthi) – Focused on navigation, obstacle avoidance, and drone pilot training.
Day 2 (March 13, 2025)
- Agrochemical spraying with drones (Prof. Anil Kumar J) – Demonstrated Krishak Drone for pesticide application, pilot training, certification, and licensing.
- Field Visit to Centurion University’s Drone Research Facility (Super Bee Lab) – Provided practical exposure to drone manufacturing, calibration, and industry applications.
Valedictory Session Led by CTUAP officials, the session emphasized the university’s commitment to technology-driven education. Participants received certificates, and feedback was gathered.
The workshop successfully equipped students and faculty with technical expertise in drones, combining expert-led lectures, practical training, and industrial visits, reinforcing CTUAP’s focus on technology and skill development.
