Internal Complaint Committee of CTUAP conducted Workshop on ‘Legal Implication of Drug Abuse, Illicit Trafficking and Sexual Harassment’ in collaboration with National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on 31st July 2024 at CTUAP Seminar Hall. Chief Guest was Smt.K. Vijaya Kalyani, Senior Civil Judge, and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority,Vizianagaram, Keynote Speaker was Sri. D. Viswanadh, DSP, DISHA and Traffic, Vizianagaram. The purpose of this workshop was to raise awareness about the dangers and consequences of Drug Abuse, Illicit Trafficking, and Sexual Harassment and to provide valuable information on prevention and support resources available to students. The program was inaugurated by Prof. T.V. Kattimani, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CTUAP along with the chief guest, keynote speaker, presiding officer of ICC, CTUAP, Dr. Parikipandla Srideviand Dr. Prama Chatterjee, member of ICC, CTUAP.
The chief guest Smt.K. Vijaya Kalyaniaddressed several critical issues during the event, including ragging, drug abuse, its impact on society and the legal measures to be taken if any student is involved in drug abuse. She highlighted the importance of awareness and proactive measures in dealing with ragging and drug abuse on campus. By understanding their legal rights and responsibilities, students can better protect themselves and contribute to a safer, healthier academic environment
Sri. D. Viswanadh, DSP of DISHA and Traffic, spoke about drug abuse and the legal rights of women and advised them to avoid getting involved in legal entanglements. He emphasized the importance of understanding the rights to ensure their protection and empowerment. He advised students to take proactive measures to avoid becoming entangled in legal disputes, highlighting the potential stress and complications that such situations can bring. By being aware of their rights and taking preventive steps, female students can better safeguard their interests and well-being. He emphasized the importance of determination and the power of positive thinking. His speech was aimed at encouraging students to stay committed to their studies.Additionally he advised them to read Rabindranath Tagore and learn from his life stories.
In this event, other guest speakers were Ch V. S. Prasad, Circle Inspector (Special Enforcement Bureau), Sri K. Rama Rao, Inspector of Police, Law and Order Vizianagaram, Sri. B. Jagadeeswara Rao, Circle Inspector (Special Enforcement Bureau).Other guests at the event spoke about the importance of avoiding drug use and focusing on academic and career goals. They highlighted the value of legal support in addressing and overcoming substance abuse issues. In his lecture, the Vice Chancellor Prof. T.V. Kattimaniadvised students to prioritize their studies and career development. He emphasized the effects of drug abuse on both physical and mental health, highlighting how it can affect academic progress and future career prospects. The Vice-Chancellor urged students to harness their potential and invest their time and energy into educational pursuits and skill-building activities that will make a path for a successful career. He also encouraged them to seek support and resources available on campus for a healthy and focused approach to their personal and professional growth.
Additionally, they recommended engaging in activities such as reading more books and seeking out motivational resources to stay inspired and focused in career. The speakers stressed that personal motivation is crucial for overcoming challenges and achieving success in both academic and professional spheres.
The workshop was attended by all faculty members, including Dr. Divya K., Dr. Kusum, Dr. Kishor Padala, member of ICC, CTUAPandall Deans, Head of the departments, and non-teaching staff and all the students of CTUAP.
