The CTUAP on the occasion of “International Women’s Day” in collaboration with Internal complaint committee of CTUAP conducted a workshop on self-defense program in its campus on March 07, 2023. The faculty coordinator of the program Dr. Prama Chatterjee initiated the workshop. The chief-guest of the day Prof. T.V. Kattimani, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CTUAP highlighted that women's self-defense is an essential aspect of personal safety and empowerment, especially in societies where gender-based violence remains a pervasive issue. In India, like many other countries, women face various forms of harassment, assault, and discrimination on a daily basis. To address these challenges, promoting self-defense skills among women has become increasingly important. Dr. Parikipandla Sridevi, chairperson, Women’s cell & ICC, CTUAP, introduced the importance of ICC in universities. Mr. Gowri Shankar, Black belt and referee at national level in karate has demonstrated and trained girl students of CTUAP on
various aspects of self-defense with his students. The students enthusiastically participated in the program.
