National Seminar on Geospatial and Hydrogeolocial Applications in Natural Resources Management

Department of Geology successfully conducted the one day National Seminar on “Geospatial and Hydrogeolocial Applications in Natural Resources Management  on 28th  December, 2024  with eminent resource persons like

  1. Prof. N. Janradhana Raju  ,  Dean School of Environemrntal Sciences and  the Chief Proctor  Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi.
  2. Prof. M. Jagannadha Rao Sir, Emeritus Professor  Dept of Geophysics Andhra University Visakhapatnam  & Former Vice -Chancellor Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram.
  3. Dr. Meraj Alam  Assistant Professor Department of Geology  Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, (IGNTU) Amarkantak, M.P.

The main objective of this seminar is imparting the knowledge among the students on latest technological advancements in the field of geology and earth sciences in a broad spectrum.

Geospatial technologies play a vital role in natural resources mapping, assessing and monitoring of spatial and temporal variations of land, water, soil, forestry, and mineral resources. On the other hand, Hydrogeology plays a vital role in understanding the interactions among the lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere. Being a tribal university with a mandate of protecting the tribal areas with rich natural resources like mineral, water,  soil , forest and agriculture, the knowledge of geospatial technologies and hydrogeology applications in safeguarding the natural resources is essential for the upcoming geologists, to understand its importance and take up research problems or projects and even startups in these specializations for the betterment of tribal regions.  Understanding the baseline data, estimating the mineral and water resources land use patterns, water resources estimation potential zonation mapping, Groundwater movement rainwater harvesting sites and artificial recharge structures to improve the livelihood of tribal regions and for sustainable management of natural resources.
