Notification for Ph.D Admission for the Academic Year 2026-27

Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh is inviting applications from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D programmes offered in various Departments for the Academic year 2026-27.
The candidate must register for Ph.D. admission through the online SAMARTH registration portal (https://ctuapadm.samarth.edu.in/2026/). Submission of the online registration forms is mandatory for Ph.D. admissions.
Examination Fee:
All candidates must pay the non-refundable registration fee as per the following categories.

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Admission
  1. The eligibility for the Ph.D. admission will strictly adhere to the UGC (Minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. degree) regulation, 2022, and CTUAP Ph.D. regulation, 2024.
  2. As per UGC Ph.D regulations, 2022, the eligibility for admission o Ph.D will be as follows:
  • The candidates who have completed a 1-year/2-semestermaster’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under alawin its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamylayer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5%marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belong ingto SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

A Master’s degree in Plant Science/Botany/Life Sciences or its allied disciplines from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with minimum of 55% in aggregate marks or equivalents in grading system for General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% or equivalent for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories candidates are eligible to apply.
Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks
or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Chemistry
A Master’s degree with Chemistry (Any Specialization) from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories, is eligible to apply
Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks
or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Computer Science
A master’s degree in M.Tech./M.C.A/M.Sc. degree in (Computer Science/CSE/ECE/AI/ML/IT/IS/Data Science, M.Sc. Mathematics or related interdisciplinary subjects), from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% in aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/ PWD categories are eligible to apply.
Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed. A Master’s degree with Geology/Applied Geology/ Marine Geology/ Earth Science/Remote Sensing/ Geoinformatics from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories is eligible to apply

A Master’s degree with Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/Botany/Microbiology/Zoology/Environmental Science/Genetics/Molecular biology/Life Sciences from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% in aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories are eligible to apply

A Master’s degree in Social Sciences such as; Tribal Studies/Sociology/Anthropology/Social Work/ Cultural Studies/Development Studies/Folklore Studies/ Rural Development from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories are eligible to apply

A Master’s degree in MBA-TTM, MTTM, MTM or MA-Tourism, M.Sc. Hospitality Management, MBA Hospitality Management, MHM from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories are eligible to apply

Journalism & Mass Communication
A Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication such as MJMC/MAJMC/MA or M.Sc. in Electronic Media from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% in aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/ PWD categories are eligible to apply.

A Master’s Degree in English from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC Category and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories are eligible to apply.

Sociology
A Master’s degree in Sociology from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories are eligible to apply.

Social Work (SW)
A Master’s degree in Social Work such as; MSW/ MA-Social Work, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Public Administration, Development Studies, MBA & Medical Sciences, Social Welfare and Rural Management from a recognized Indian or foreign university/ institution (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) with a minimum of 55% in aggregate in case of General, EWS and OBC categories and 50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories are eligible to apply.
