About

The main objective of the Central Library is to support teaching, learning and research activities of Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh through its resources and services. The Library is involved in designing and delivering need-based library and information services. The Library is open access and has a collection of around 17000+ volumes of print books and 13000+ E-journals under one nation one subscription scheme of the Government of India. The Library is fully automated using Koha with RFID enabled. The Library subscribes to 6 newspapers and 49 magazines, which help the users to keep abreast of the latest information in their subject or allied ones. The Library uses DDC to classify books and AACR2 to catalogue books.

Loss of / Damage to Library Materials

Loss or damage of books must be reported immediately. Overdue fines will accrue until the loss is reported and replaced with new book or payment of prevailing price. If returned after being reported lost, the fine is charged up to the return date. Lost/damaged books must be replaced with the latest edition within a week, along with overdue charges. If replacement is not possible due to the book being out of print, twice the current cost plus overdue charges must be paid. If a single volume from a multi-volume set is lost, the borrower must bear the cost of the entire set.

Library rules
  1. As a space dedicated to individual study and research, the Library kindly requests that all members uphold decorum, dignity, peace, and silence while on the premises.
  2. Users are required to present their University-issued ID card upon entering the Library. This ID is essential for utilizing the self-checkout and self-check-in system (RFID) for borrowing materials.
  3. Borrowers are advised to thoroughly inspect books and other reading materials for any missing pages, chapters, damages, or markings prior to borrowing them.
  4. The use of personal stereos, music devices, and audible mobile phone conversations is prohibited. Additionally, smoking and the consumption of food and beverages within the Library are not allowed.
  5. Books in damaged condition will not be accepted from borrowers. Any instances of mutilation, writing, scribbling, marking, or cutting pages will be taken seriously, and borrowers may be required to replace spoiled items.
  6. Borrowing privileges may be restricted or suspended in cases of misbehavior or misuse of library facilities or materials.
  7. Members are responsible for all items issued in their name until they are returned to the Library.
  8. The University smart ID card designated for borrowing materials is non-transferable and must be returned to the Library upon completion of use.
  9. Faculty and staff who are going on extended leave—whether paid or unpaid—deputation, study leave, or extraordinary leave must return all borrowed materials before departing from the University.
  10. All members are encouraged to store their personal belongings at the Property Counter at their own risk, as the Library does not assume responsibility for loss or damage.
  11. No materials may be removed from the Library without proper issuance and recording. Any violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action.
